NIKIFOROS PANOURGIAS, Senior Research Fellow
Nikiforos Panourgias (Ph.D. London School of Economics) is a Senior Research Fellow at FINTECHNEXT, who joined from the University of Leicester for a two-year engagement. Before joining the University of Leicester School of Business in November 2013 as an Associate Professor, Dr. Panourgias was Assistant Professor at the Information Systems Management Group of Warwick Business School at the University of Warwick, having joined WBS as a post-doctoral researcher in September 2008 to work on an ESRC-funded project on interdisciplinary collaboration in the design and development of digital games.
CHRISTOS FILELIS - PAPADOPOULOS, Research Fellow
Christos Filelis-Papadopoulos (Ph.D. University of Thrace) is a Research Fellow at FINTECHNEXT, whose research interests include preconditioned iterative methods, multigrid and multilevel methods as well as parallel computing, cloud computing, big data and machine learning. He has over 80 publications in the above research areas and participated in several European (H2020) and National funded projects. He taught in several universities as an adjunct faculty member and as a researcher to the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH).
MILAD DEHGHANI, Research Fellow
Milad Dehghani (Ph.D. Sapienza University of Rome) is a Research Fellow at FINTECHNEXT, and prior to joining FINTECHNEXT, he has held several academic positions as a research scientist, post-doctoral fellow, and research associate in Russia, Canada, and Hong Kong respectively. He has a proven track record of research in publications, and actively engages as a guest editor and ad-hoc reviewer in more than 15 academic journals.
KEVIN O'LEARY, Senior Post-doctoral Researcher
Kevin O’Leary (Ph.D. University College Cork) is a Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher, whose research focuses on the value of emerging opportunities in Fintech including Blockchain, Cryptocurrencies, Open Banking, and Distributed Collaboration. He has held a number of positions in industry including, Head of IT for Trustap, a secure online transaction platform, Blockchain consultant with Claru, a technology company looking to leverage blockchain for food traceability, and Software Quality Assurance Analyst for American Tower Corporation.
TRIPTI SHARMA, Senior Post-doctoral Researcher
Tripti Sharma (Ph.D. Queen’s University Belfast) is a Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher at FINTECHNEXT, whose doctoral thesis titled “The Future of Equity Release Schemes in the UK” focussed on housing equity release and retirement income adequacy and investigated demand and supply side issues related to reverse mortgages. She has been a co-investigator on a European Commission project on integrating residential property with private pensions. She has also cleared a few actuarial exams and was employed as Assistant Manager at Kotak Mahindra Old Mutual Life Insurance Company in Mumbai, India before she moved into academia.
PANAGIOTIS E. KYZIROPOULOS, Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher
Panagiotis E. Kyziropoulos (Ph.D. University of Thrace) is a Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher at FINTECHNEXT, whose research interests include Applied Mathematics, Scientific Computing, Parallel, Distributed and Cloud computing, Big Data Analysis, Machine Learning, Visualization techniques and User Experience (UX) as well as the wider field of Computer Science. Prior to joining FINTECHNEXT, he was a Post-Doctoral researcher at CNRS – France (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) on LAM (Laboratoire d’Astrophysique de Marseille) and a researcher in the CloudLightning EU H2020 Project.
DIONYSIOS KARAVIDAS, Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher
Dionysios Karavidas (Ph.D. University of Kiel) is a Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher at FINTECHNEXT with an interdisciplinary research portfolio, which is based on the use of econometrical and statistical methods on topics related to International Trade, Regulation and Governance, Taxation and FinTech. Prior to joining FINTECHNEXT, he was a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the University of Limerick involved with the COFFERS project (Combating Fiscal Fraud and Empowering Regulators), funded by the EU through Horizon 2020 program.
JIE IE BAIK, Project Manager
Jie Ie Baik is the Project Manager for FINTECHNEXT and is a Chartered Professional Accountant (BC, Canada). Prior to joining FINTECHNEXT, she worked at the University of British Columbia in Canada for more than a decade in various finance/administrative/project management roles.
